Description
The IWM Short Film
Festival, organized by the Imperial War Museums, is a showcase
of imaginative and challenging films that explore the causes of war and
conflict and their impact on people’s lives.
The event began in 2001
as a student film festival with an emphasis on discovering, sharing and
reinterpreting the museum’s extensive film archive. This year the festival will
take place at the newly transformed IWM in London from 23
October to 10 November.
The festival is
encouraging inexperienced and talented filmmakers, and giving them the chance
of having their work screened to a wider audience in a professional and
supportive environment.
Eligibility
Students and amateur
filmmakers are encouraged to submit their documentary projects to the
festival.
The films should have
been completed after 1 January 2011, and the maximum film length is 30 minutes.
Prize
The
prizes include:
£10,000 worth of
post-production time at Prime Focus, visual effects company in London;
12 month paid
internship with October Films, an independent television production
company based in London.
The award categories
are Best Documentary and Best Creative Response. There will also
be an award for the Audience Vote and a Special Award that
will be presented to the film that best responds to the First World War.
Application
The deadline for
entering the competition is 31 July 2014.
