Description
The International Visegrad Fund is founded by four countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Republic of Poland, and the Slovak Republic (collectively called Visegrad Group V4). The fund provides annual grants to organizations around the globe to promote closer cooperation among citizens and institutions in the region as well as between the V4 region and other countries.
The grants are awarded to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), municipalities and local or regional governments, schools and universities and individual citizens around the globe. Successful projects must deal with the Visegrad Group Countries and work on cooperation between project partners based in the region.
The International Visegrad Fund is offering the following grant programs:
- Visegrad Small Funds;
- Visegrad Standard Funds;
- Visegrad University Studies Grants;
- Visegrad In-coming Scholarships;
- Visegrad Scholarships for the Eastern Partnership.
Eligibility
Grants are open to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), municipalities and local or regional governments, schools and universities and individual citizens around the globe, working on projects involving the the Visegrad Group Countries as partners.
Visegrad In-coming Scholarship grant program is open to scholars from: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Russia, and Serbia. Visegrad Scholarships for the Eastern Partnership grant program is open to Eastern Partnership Countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine.
Grant
The fund offers different grants depending on the grant program:
- Visegrad Small Grants: 6000 euros per project for projects up to 6 months;
- Visegrad Standard Grants: projects worth 6000 euros and above with a 12 month duration;
- Visegrad University Studies Grants: up to 10,000 euros per course and 40,000 euros per degree program.
University courses or degree programs must deal with specific phenomena explicitly related to the Visegrad Group (V4) countries; - Visegrad In-Coming Scholarships: students will be awarded 2,300 euros per semester and the corresponding host universities/institutes will receive €1,500 per semester per scholar. Scholars who need to travel to the host institution more than 1,500 km are also eligible for one-time Travel Grant;
- Visegrad Scholarships for the Eastern Partnership: students from Eastern Partnership countries will receive up to €2,300 per semester. The host universities/institutes where candidates study will receive €1,500 per semester per scholar.
Application
Applicants must be working on a project involving the the Visegrad Group Coutries (V4) and promoting the concept of Visegrad cooperation.

Applicants submit projects with at least three entities (including the applicant) from three different V4 countries. In case of ‘Cross-Border Cooperation’, minimum two countries must be involved. Applicants submit projects in the following six categories: Education, Youth Exchange, Cross-Border Cooperation, Cultural Cooperation, Scientific Exchange and Research, and Promotion of Tourism. Visegrad University Studies Grant – application deadline: 10 November 2014
Applicants must fill in the online application form and attach the following materials in English:

- Curriculum vitae(s) of the coordinator(s);
- Course syllabus/program curriculum;
- Tentative letters of agreement from the guest lecturers;
- Confirmation about the enrollment of the course within given program (continuation);
- Copy of ministerial accreditation (where applicable);
- Copy of identification documents of the applicant institution;
- Course description(s) for each course within a degree program.

- Certified translation of a diploma (Master’s or the highest obtained);
- Original acceptance letter from the host university/institution;
- Original working plan of the study/research period (PhD) or Original list of courses (MA);
- Recommendation letter (only for Post-Master’s level).
Applying for the Visegrad Scholarship Program is possible only through the on-line application system.
The application system opens approximately 2 months prior to the deadline, usually at the beginning of December.
Some application systems are not open yet. Make sure you subscribe to the grant you want to apply for, so that you don’t miss the deadline.
