Balkans, Let’s Get Up! Programme

Description

The Balkans let’s get up! programme connects theory and practice of active citizenship. To strengthen civic involvement in the Balkan Region, the programme provides capacities for your very own civic idea. In one of the two international Spring Schools you can first discuss relevant societal topics, learn aspects of project development, meet with experts, and develop your own project ideas. This year the focus is set the on the topics: Rethinking, Reusing, Recycling – Community-Based Activism (taking place in Kosovo) and Gender and Democracy (taking place in Montenegro).
In two different international Spring Schools the participants will discuss innovative approaches to sustainable forms of living, gender diversity and democratization, to what democracy means on different levels of society, and which forms of active citizenship are possible to individuals and groups. You will meet like-minded people from all over the Balkans. The Spring Schools can be the starting point for realizing your project, alone or in a team.

Project Management Training, June 28th – 3rd 2015
The best project drafts will be selected and you will be invited to a Project Management Training. During this week the organization will support you in further developing your project plans. Various aspects will be planned according to the particular needs of your individual projects. Topics such as time management, team work, communication, public relations, and fundraising will be a part of it. Between the Project Management Seminar and the Evaluation and Perspectives Seminar you will have time to implement your project. You will be accompanied by experienced Mentors.

Evaluation and Perspectives Seminar, October 25th – 30th 2015
This seminar is one more forum for reflecting upon the results, the impact and the process of your projects. It addresses future chances that open up due to the new experiences and networking opportunities acquired within the programme year, which allow for sustainable engagement and support, but also employability. You will get acquainted with local and regional NGOs and other young people taking action in the region.

Eligibility

  • Age between 18 and 27;
  • Willingness to contribute to your society with a civic initiative;
  • Ability to discuss in English;
  • Citizenship of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia or Slovenia;
  • Motivation and time to take part in each step of the programme.

Costs

Balkans, Let’s Get Up! pays for all seminar related costs (e.g. participants’ travel costs, accommodation, food, trainers, materials) except € 20,  participation fee per seminar. The organization will pay for participants’ travel costs after they have confirmed the participants’ suggested modes of transport and costs.

International Forum for Young Poetess

Description

“Great Silk Way” International Youth Union announces the 3rd “International Forum of Young Poetesses” that will take place from 26-29 March 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Forum is aimed at creating a space for young and talented female poets from the countries, historically connected with cultural bounds of the Silk Road, for self-expression, exchange and discussions on common challenges.
The forum will consist of 3 days:
  • The first day will include various cultural programs, sightseeing and leisure.
  • The second day of the Forum will include the official opening ceremony, with participation of famous poets, writers and public figures, alongside with presentations of works of participants. Second half of the day will be dedicated to thematic sessions on specific topics with attendance of participants.
  • The third day of the Forum will give an opportunity to participants to have meetings with various writers, poets and their peers to share their work with them and discuss literature.

Eligibility

The forum is open to poetesses aged 18-35 from Europe, Asia and MENA countries. They must be  English speaking poetesses with the pieces of work published locally.

Costs

Travel costs of participants to and from Baku, as well as accommodation and meal expenses are covered by host organization. The host organization also provides participants with all the necessary documents for obtaining visa.

NOOR-Nikon 5-Days Workshop for Documentary Photographers

Description

NOOR photo agency and foundation and Nikon Europe support documentary photographers from emerging markets all over the world through the organization of annual motivational masterclasses. During the five days of the workshop, 15 participants, together with three member photographers of NOOR and NOOR’s managing director will share experiences, work on portfolios, improve editing skills and learn how to pick up and develop stories. Each day consists of intensive communication with the photographers on the subjects of technical features and the peculiarities of the international photo market. It is a unique opportunity to gain new knowledge, contacts, learn to tell stories in a visual language and develop a personal vision.

Eligibility

The masterclass will be accessible to young and aspiring documentary photographers and photojournalists from the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Slovenia.
For submission you are required to have:
  • Basic experience in documentary photography or photojournalism;
  • A high level of motivation;
  • English language skills (the workshop is in English);
  • A good technical understanding of your camera equipment, a working knowledge of the media environment and basic image management skills.

Costs

The workshop is free of chargetravel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed (possession of a passport and travel insurance is required to apply).

Application

To apply you need to send a PDF file not exceeding 6 MB including:
  • A CV including your contact information and a written text explaining your work and projects. You need to clarify your involvement in photography by showing a proven track record, proof of a photographic training or at least 1-year experience of practice;
  • Motivation letter in English (1 page);
  • A portfolio of max. 30 images with text introductions and captions (please show your story telling skills by presenting at least one picture story of 8 images).

‘Tirana IN-BETWEEN’ Residence Programme for Writers

Description

POETEKA, a cultural association in Tirana, in cooperation with the TRADUKI Network and in partnership with Albanian Ministry of Culture is organizing the Residence Programme ‘Tirana IN-BETWEEN’ 2015. The residence is intended  for writers and literary translators coming from Southeast Europe. In particular the programme pays attention in writers who are innovative, who handle in their works contemporary thematics and topics, or translators who working to and from the languages contained in translation program of TRADUKI European Network for literature and books.
For the year 2015, the call for applications is launched for six months, each in the duration of 4 weeks, starting from March 2015.

Eligibility

The Literary Residence Programme is open to fiction writers, poets, literary translators, essayists, playwrights and screenplay writers from Southeast Europe (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania).

Fellowship

The fellowships includes accommodationtravel costs and a stipend of €800.

Application

Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
  • a bio-bibliography – a short curriculum vitae and art life, including the list of the works published (in Albanian, English, German or French – max. half page);
  • a recommendation of the publisher or of Writers or Translators Association;
  • a synopsis of the project to be undertaken during the stay in Tirana (max. half page);

TRAIN Programme for Western Balkans "Think Tanks"

 Description

The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) is launching a call for applications for the 2015 edition of theTRAIN programme (Think Tanks Providing Research and Advice through Interaction and Networking). The programme seeks to foster a fruitful policy dialogue between think tanks and political actors in the EU candidate countries and potential candidate countries of the Western Balkans.
The TRAIN Programme aims to support think tanks with a clear policy-oriented approach that focus on national, regional and/or international politics. Each participating researcher will be expected to draft a policy paper dealing with a topic which is relevant to the EU integration process of his/her respective country or the region as a whole and closely related to the overarching theme of the 2015 TRAIN Programme, namely the strengthening of democratic institutions in the Western Balkans.
The Programme is divided into four key stages:
  • An introductory regional seminar will offer the occasion to set the research agenda, exchange good practices, and begin networking.
  • mid-term seminar in Berlin will allow for a review of the draft policy papers and discussion with relevant actors from the German policy scene of the chosen topics.
  • wrap-up seminar in Brussels will allow the participating researchers to present their findings to EU decision-makers and thus to establish contacts with relevant Brussels actors.
  • The dissemination stage of the programme will take place at the national level and should bring together key decision-makers from the Parliament and relevant ministries.

Eligibility

The programme is open to twelve  researchers  from different think tanks from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Participating researchers should be full employees of their respective think tank and should commit to the programme for its entire duration. Preference will be given to young researchers who have already (co-)published at least one policy paper.

Costs

All travel and accommodation expenses related to the participation in the programme will be borne or reimbursed by the German Council on Foreign Relations.
Each policy paper will be awarded a €250 grant. Furthermore, the language editing of the final policy paper can be subsidised with up to €100 and its printing with up to €200 (upon presentation of the receipts).

International Youth Conference on Security and Democracy in New Countries

Kosovo Youth Atlantic Treaty Association is announcing the first activity for 2015, on the honour of 7th Anniversary of Kosovo Independence: “International Youth Conference on Security and Democracy in New Countries“ that is going to take place on 14 – 18 February 2015 at Kosovo Centre for Public Safety, Vushtri, Republic of Kosovo. The objective of this Conference is to provide to participants a broad understanding on the historical development, the security, and the social and political dimensions of North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Kosovo Post-conflict State building process and impacts on the peace and stability of the region. There are 20 open positions for attendance at the event.

Eligibility

International students with different academic backgrounds and a general interest in Euro-Atlantic integration will benefit from each other in an intercultural and interdisciplinary learning process. Youth leaders, politicians, interested students from Social Sciences or security studies, civil society, communication experts and others who may have interests on the event&topic are welcomed to apply for the training.

Costs

Tuition fees for the conference are as follows:
  • Tuition fee for Kosovo students is 95 euro;
  • The tuition fee non Kosovo students is 110 euro.
The participation fee only covers: Accommodation, three meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). 4 positions are to be funded and have the tuition fee covered for the participants.
